Day 8 – St. Louis MO to Cincinnati OH

Well our drive was a bit shorter yesterday because we had a stop in Cincinnati to visit relatives, Bobbie, Kay and John. Bobbie is my grandmother’s cousin and she’s 94. Let me tell you I wish I was as spry at 51 as that lady is at 94. She’s amazing. Kay is Mom’s second cousin and my second cousin once removed. I am Bobbies first cousin twice removed. John is Mom’s second cousin-in-law and my second cousin once removed-in-law. Got it? got it! When your great grandmother was one of 13 children you need to learn all this stuff.

Well the drive was really nice even though we are getting sick of driving. We got a book on CD from Cracker Barrel. Cracker Barrel lends books for the road and you can return it to any Cracker Barrel, so that’s cool. We got some John Grisham short sories – perfect.

Ok, the hotel – La Quinta, is in Sharonville off Sharon Rd.! Woo hoo. Really nice room too.

We went over to Kay, John and Bobbies house and had a delicious dinner and a nice visit. They had chinese food for us – how perfect is that after days and days of drive-thru fast food? And such a cake for dessert! It had blueberries and kiwi and peaches on it. It was almost too pretty to cut into. When we left Kay gave us a box of bakery muffins for our breakfast! Isn’t that the sweetest most considerate thing? It was fun catching up on what’s going on with their end of the family. Their grandson is almost as cute as my grandson lol. I am so glad we got to have this visit, it meant alot to me and Mom.

Today we have our last drive – Greenville is 452 miles down the road. It’s a good thing because I think Speedy’s at the end of his rope. Why do I think that? Well this morning he walked over to his litter box, looked at it, and came over and jumped up on the sofa where I was sitting and pissed in my lap! OK is that a hint? LOL

See you tomorrow

About sharonpassmore

Hi. I am an artist living in Greenville, South Carolina. I am the Art moderator at Eratosphere, a forum of Ablemuse Review. I play with all sorts of art-forms, including digital design and fabric design, but nearest to my heart, at the moment, is collage. I like it best if the collage materials are not recognized from a distance and reveal themselves at close up, the way a painting can look realistic from a distance but on closer inspection, the freedom of brushstrokes becomes apparent. My materials are my brushstrokes. I use anything I find in my collage that suits the purpose, beads, broken jewelry, wallpaper scraps etc... I always try to incorporate recycled packaging too. This is important to me, partly because of the environment, and partly because I get a little thrill out of recognizing the value of materials most people would discard as trash. Think of this next time you peel that wonderful foil seal off a new can of coffee. I am inspired by many kinds of traditional arts and crafts. The cultural history of the world is just loaded with fabulous treasure, isn't it? I view the world of art and art history as a giant buffet and I want to sample a taste of everything. "Mmmmm that Wabi Sabi looks delicious! Gimme a little of that Horror Vacui! Check out those fantastic Molas!" I completely reject the idea that one artform is superior to another due to what is in fashion at the moment. Art is timeless. If there's something I don't like too much, I try to keep in mind that I probably don't understand it, and that's a signal to me that I have something more to learn. There is always something more to learn. Thanks for visitng <3 Sharon Passmore
